A man watches his horizon
Says out loud “Goodbye son”
takes a step onto the ledge,
looks down across the edge
sees the waves hit the quay
turns his back onto the sea
and then he’s blinded
suddenly reminded
of the light behind him
as if to remind him:
You are the keeper of this lighthouse.
