Yes, you know it’s coming
after all
you were in the Sainsbury’s
swiping at the shelfstacks
pillaging the saltsnacks
not really sure
what to hope for
just a bit of sweet
and then, some salt
So, yeah, you know it’s coming
but that first pop
that cracks you open
and proliferates
into every ventricle
is like lightning indoors
Left alone, it’ll burst
It needs taking, to the world
Just to show them, that it’s yours
Then’s the time for feasting
for ripe and rampant handfuls
until you’re pigs with wings
munching on the cloudfulls
to heaven, you’re ascending
But, the slightest winds
and every cloud falls
your mud-covered bins
filled in with kernels
it leaves you
completely sick
of popcorn
