The everyman walks in
he is small and unassuming
yet it had been told to me
he stood for every man
so surely he’d be taller
I found a space beside him
and asked him with my query
“There is no giant I’m afraid”
he smiled soft and often
“but every man is me”
So it is that you are all men?
For I need to speak with them
“As I said, there is no giant
and every man is me”
Alas my quest would seem to fail
Reluctantly I sank and watched
For the everyman was waiting
Gently listening to nature
And when there was a fire
He helped to cease the spreading
And then it was
I realised
There was no giant
That every man was me
