Tinnies in the park

it's a fancy tin of beer
in a city circulated park
that seizes the ceiling
and ceases the creeping

like an aluminum cornerstone
holding up a roof
missing something special like a skylight

walls found from trees
which have grown thicker than sleaze
with each and every month
passing by

but the foliage of springtime
somehow spreads a window
through the bark of winter’s night

fields full of flowers
like they’re finally allowed
suddenly removed
of photogenic doubt

overflowing ponds
flooding into lakes
and swallowing the rats
in their silly little swim hats

a poem that took
almost a year to write
although it’s really barely started
and we should start to circle back

it's a fancy tin of beer
in a city circulated park
and it's cream for strawberry
chocolate covered hearts

take a bench
and wait for the rainclouds to pass us by
like those other jogger passersby
until there’s nothing left
except a six-pack
in the sun
